you know how some people aim to disturb the comfortable? i get that. i support that. the comfortable need to be shaken up. but i aim to do something else with my cyanotypes. my goal here, awash in this deep and soothing blue, is to comfort the disturbed.
there’s little i enjoy more than thinking about my work hanging in someone’s home, in their office, in a cozy inn or fancy hotel suite. anywhere someone can look at it, contemplate it, and relax for a moment.
cyanotype is an old photographic process, one of the first in fact, and working with this medium means submitting to a collaboration with a mixture of photoreactive iron compounds and the sun. so my process blends botanical elements like ferns and wild grasses with a touch of that unpredictability.
since i also have the habit of seeing how far i can push my paper or other materials until i “break” a piece, my work emerges as a thing partially contained and also a thing half wild. and kind of just…odd.
all of which pleases me, deeply. and my hope, as always, is that it pleases you too.
original pieces in vintage frames are available for sale in person at the shows I vend (keep up on where and when via my instagram). commissions are always welcomed. i ship anywhere within the u.s.
for art buyers, larger quantities of originals are available through special order, and unusual and/or large artwork sizes are happily considered.
unique limited runs of prints will soon be available. stay tuned!
