hank adams

writing & consulting

Hello and welcome. My name is Hank Adams

I’ve been writing and consulting for businesses, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, artists and others for nearly twenty years.

In that time I’ve settled into a wheelhouse of what I call “informational copywriting,” or writing that informs as much as it engages.

Because yes, it’s important to catch and hold your customers’ attention. It’s also important to help them really understand what you do, and why they need what you have to offer.

From marketing to more technical materials, communicating your products, services and value in a clear, confident manner matters.

And that’s where I come in.

Below you’ll find an overview of my marketing, technical copywriting and consulting services, as well as an FAQ to give you further information on what it’s like to work with me.

If you have any further questions, or would like to set up a free consultation, drop me a line at hankadamswritingservices@gmail.com

marketing

Who you are, what you do, who you do it for – these are the pillars of good marketing.

Your target customers need to understand what you do and why it’s valuable to them.

I help you communicate that value by offering a variety of marketing-related services:

  • Websites and Landing Pages
  • Ads and Promotional Materials
  • Articles, Features and Case Studies
  • Social Media Posts
  • Blog Posts
  • Product Descriptions
  • Sales Listings
  • Fundraising Materials
  • Emails
  • Newsletters

technical copywriting

While “technical writing” may conjure images of assembly instructions and users manuals, every business actually needs at least some form of technical writing.

Reference and walk-through documents help your customers understand your products and how to use them, or understand your services and which ones are right for them.

So while user manuals are important (and one of my favorite things to write – really!), technical writing includes a lot more than you might think. Including:

  • Blog Post Guides and How-To’s
  • Frequently Asked Questions/FAQ’s
  • Assembly and Use Instructions
  • Troubleshooting Guides
  • User Manuals
  • White papers
  • Employee Handbooks
  • Policies and Contracts
  • Procedures and Guidelines
  • Training Materials

consulting

I meet my consulting clients where they’re at: brand new business owners still figuring out what their brand is, established organizations looking to refresh themselves, and everyone in between.

Whatever stage you find yourself at, I’m happy to help you map a course from where you are to where you want to be.

Side note: For me consulting also includes organizing. Because you can’t know where you want to go without fully understanding where you are, and even where you’ve been. That’s why I also offer services around cataloguing and archiving:

  • Brand Strategy and Development
  • Social Media Strategy
  • Content Planning
  • Marketing Strategy and Planning
  • Mission Statements
  • Grant Applications
  • Residency Applications
  • Portfolio Creation/Review
  • Data Entry and Organizing
  • Archiving and Catalogue Creation

frequently asked questions

How do I book a consultation, and what do we cover?

You can reach out to me to book a free initial consultation via email at hankswritingservices@gmail.com

During our consultation, we’ll meet in person, on zoom or on the phone to chat about your business, needs and goals. We’ll cover things like delivery times, invoicing and payment at this time as well.

I will send a detailed summary of our meeting within one business day. From there, if you agree with the summary and the work requested, I’ll send you a contract to sign. Once you sign and return it, I’ll begin working.

What are your payment structure options?

I offer my clients two payment structure options: “per project” or “per milestone.”

Many times the work someone needs is straightforward and doesn’t involve multiple projects or services. For example, a new company policy explaining when and how employees can request time off is a single item, and as such would be billed “per project.”

If instead a client needs a series of emails as part of a larger marketing campaign, we might choose the “per milestone” structure, where I invoice per email rather than wait till the end of the entire project.

A third option of working “on retainer” is available, but since I only work with a few new clients a year, it is a very limited option.

Regardless of payment structure, all payments are due within two weeks of invoicing.

Do you keep a work log?

Yes. Work is tracked in 15 minute intervals rather than hourly. I’m not going to charge you for a full hour if a task actually took less than half that time to complete.

I provide all of my clients with my full work log per project, sent with each invoice.

Please note: After the initial free consultation, I do note further calls or meetings as part of my work log.

Thank you for visiting my website!
